Addressing Food Justice

Spreading Cheer with Delicious Meals!

The spirit of giving was alive and well for the third year running, thanks to our partnership with Chi Fresh Kitchen! Together, we provided over 1,500 members of the community with warm, freshly prepared holiday meals, bringing joy and nourishment to families in need.

The heartwarming feast featured traditional holiday fare, including roast turkey, sweet potatoes, creamy macaroni and cheese, and savory collard greens. The passage goes beyond mentioning the food, expressing sincere gratitude to the dedicated volunteers who ensured the smooth distribution of these delicious and nutritious meals. Their efforts played a crucial role in making this holiday season a little brighter for many families in the community.

KAC Food Pantry Tackles Hunger Year-Round

We are delighted to share the latest updates on our ongoing efforts to support and uplift our community through our food pantry initiative. In our last update, we shared that we had the privilege of distributing fresh produce, frozen chicken, and shelf-stable items to 100 families during the holiday season.

We are excited to share that our food pantry operates bi-weekly, offering consistent support to STLS and new-to-country families. This ensures that our assistance is accessible and available on an ongoing basis, empowering individuals and families to meet their basic needs and thrive.

Our collaboration with Rush Hospital has been instrumental in ensuring that vital resources are readily available to those who need them most. This initiative reflects our steadfast commitment to addressing food insecurity and ensuring every family has access to nutritious meals, regardless of their circumstances.

We would like to extend a heartfelt appreciation to Jasmine Chase for her outstanding management of the pantry, ensuring its smooth operation and accessibility to all. Additionally, we would like to express our gratitude to parent coordinators Bernice Jones and Passion Butler for their invaluable contributions to this vital community resource.

Together, their tireless efforts ensure that countless families in our community can access the food and support they need.
