COVID-19 Learning at Home

WiFi Access

If you do not have consistent access to WiFi, Comcast Xfinity and AT&T are offering free WiFi access through various hotspots around the city.

To access Xfinity, go to https://wifi.xfinity.com/ and enter your zip code to find the hotspot closest to your home. Then:

  1. Enable WiFi on the device (here are instructions for enabling WiFi on Chromebooks and Samsung Galaxy tablets).
  2. Look for xfinitywifi in the list of networks. Select it.
  3. You should be connected!

To access AT&T‘s hotspots follow these directions:

  1. Make sure WiFi is enabled on your device (here are instructions for enabling WiFi on Chromebooks and Samsung Galaxy tablets).
  2. Select att-wifi or attwifi from your list of available wireless networks.
  3. You should be connected!

Accessing Clever

Clever is our internet portal that allows students to access educational resources online. Clever is used extensively at all KIPP Chicago Campuses, so your student will be very familiar with the portal. To access:

  1. Navigate to https://www.clever.com/in/kippchicago on your device (smart phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer)
  2. Enter your students userid and password (you should receive these directly from your school)
  3. That’s it! Your child should be logged in and can see all the applications they’ll need.

Accessing Google Classroom

Google Classroom can be accessed through a web browser on a computer or laptop by logging into Clever (see box to the left) or by navigating directly to https://classroom.google.com.

If you are using a smartphone or tablet, then you should download the free “Classroom” app (in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store).

Note: Google Classroom doesn’t work with Kindle Fire tablets

Your student will receive an invitation to their Google Classroom sections in their KIPP Chicago email (2020Xfirstlast@kippchicago.org). Students should login and accept the invitation.

If your student(s) did not receive an invitation for some reason contact your student’s teacher, principal, or operations leader.

Technology Support

If your student does not have access to any technology device (smartphone, tablet or computer), please contact your school’s principal.

Notebooks & Books

If your student is in need of a notebook to show work on paper for the online learning material or an additional book to read, both will be available for pickup at the school during food distribution hours at the school (9AM to 1PM).
