Teaching at KIPP Chicago:
We
are looking for highly dedicated educators who will bring a “whatever
it takes” attitude to helping children succeed. KIPP Chicago teachers
are responsible for delivering effective, high-quality, rigorous
instruction in their content areas, producing unmatched academic results
and student growth. KIPP Chicago gives its students a strong
foundation in the core academic subjects with an emphasis on developing
the knowledge and skills necessary for success in school and in life.
The KIPP Chicago community holds itself to high standards, cognizant
that success can be achieved by all, regardless of challenging
circumstances, through team work, tenacity, and focused dedication.
KIPP
Chicago teachers are in school Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to
5:30 pm, with most arriving before and staying after these hours. Many
KIPP Chicago teachers take on additional roles within the school,
including working as Saturday School Coordinators and Grade Level
Chairs. Though they face demanding schedules, all KIPP Chicago teachers
are strongly supported by experienced and dedicated leadership and
staff. KIPP Chicago students are in school nine hours a day, and they
attend Saturday School once a month and a mandatory summer session. On
average, KIPP Chicago students spend 60% more time in the classroom than
their peers in the Chicago Public School system. The incorporation of
mandatory summer school, Saturday School, and extended hours during the
week allows KIPP Chicago schools to develop innovative and highly
effective instruction to all of our students. In addition, our
students’ first lesson is learning the year they will go to college, and
each classroom is named after the college or university of its homeroom
teacher.
Working at the KIPP Chicago Shared Services Team:
KIPP
Chicago is also looking for dynamic and dedicated people to join its
shared services team. Every position is critical to the overall KIPP
Chicago mission of providing the best education to Chicago’s most
under-served communities and children. We believe that every role
contributes to a strong culture of achievement that helps our students
make significant academic gains and continue to excel in high school and
college. Please see the individual job postings for available
non-instructional positions.
